Researchers pave the way to 50-petabyte storage devices

German scientists at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) have achieved a new technological feat in the never-ending quest for more and more storage capacity. In a few words they were able to store a single bit of information in a single molecule thus paving the way to storage devices with capacities of 50 petabytes and more. As a comparison modern storage devices such as hard drives and SSDs need around 3 million atoms to store a single bit. Hard Drive Simply put the new technology works by embedding a magnetized iron atom into a molecule made up of 51 atoms and then taking advantage of so-called memristive and spintronic properties. By applying a current, the German scientists flipped the atom's magnetic charge, altering the resistance of the molecule as well – which they subsequently measured, storing a bit. The technology, as easily imagined, is in an early stage so don't expect any storage devices based on it any time soon. Maybe we'll see such devices in the next 10-20 years, but in the end – who knows? yen sao hitech review hue tourism vietnam weight loss cute girl dac san hue how to solve rubik how to tie a tie how to be pregnant how to cv what is fashion trends visit vietnam ky nang ban hang kinh doanh quoc te ngu phap tieng anh de thi dai hoc luan van ngan hang luan van thac sy bao cao thuc tap Quan tri kinh doanh Anh van giao tiep Bao cao thuc tap ke toan Bao cao thuc tap khach san Luan van bao chi Luan van van hoc Luan van sinh hoc Luan van hoa hoc Bao cao thuc tap xay dung Bao cao thuc tap co khi Bao cao thuc tap cong nghe thong tin Bao cao thuc tap nhan su Bao cao thuc tap quan tri kinh doanh De an giao duc

Among these projects, two have been delayed due to capital shortages. The ministry has urged the project investors to apply for loans directly from branches of BIDV. Recently, the ministry and BIDV inked an agreement to provide VND2 trillion (USD952.3 million) for around 15-20 housing projects aimed at low-income earners and workers over the next two years. The Ministry of Construction is also seeking the Prime Minister's approval for a fund that could be used to provide low interest loans for affordable housing to help low-income families. PetroVietnam continues oil exploitationHCM City rejects mini apartment project

The People's Committee of HCM City has officially turned down a project to build an apartment block offering homes measuring just 20 square metres. The People's Committee of HCM City has officially turned down a project to build an apartment block offering homes measuring just 20 square metres. The project in District 1 was submitted to the committee by Dat Lanh Real Estate Company. The city turned down the proposal on the basis that it would lead to too high a concentration of people and put greater pressure on traffic and social infastructure. Earlier, the company proposed that the Ministry of Construction revise regulations on the construction of small apartments to match people's demand. Director Nguyen Van Duc said up to 300,000 apartments had been offered in Hanoi and HCM City since 2004, excluding future supply. Most of them measured over 70 square metres each. However, these apartments failed to meet the demand of many people due to high prices. He proposed that the State should focus on building small apartments of below 40 square metres each such as type of 20-30 square metres for one person, 30-50 square metres for two and 50-70 square metres three. He also suggested that enterprises who had built 70-square apartments should be allowed to subdivide the flats into two or three parts. However the Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung earlier supported the construction of mini-apartments, saying that "The ministry plans to include this into a draft resolution to submit it to the Government for consideration. It is also aimed to implement the national housing strategy." Tourist Vietnam

PetroVietnam continues oil exploitation

PetroVietnam has continued its oil exploitation activities as normal in the East Sea despite China's recent illegal tender offer for nine offshore oil blocks on the East Sea. PetroVietnam has continued its oil exploitation activities as normal in the East SeaPetroVietnam Chairman Phung Dinh Thuc confirmed it was business as usual at a press conference on July 9. He added that, PetroVietnam has continued co-operation with its partners for oil exploration and exploitation activities in Vietnam's exclusive economic zones and continental shelf. PetroVietnam has sent a letter to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and contractors who are operating in Vietnam to reaffirm that the nine blocks belong to the Vietnamese continental shelf in line with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982. Thuc said that the Chinese side had done nothing except offer a tender invitation and PetroVietnam was currently working with partners from Russia, the US and India on exploration work, noting that PetroVietnam would also work with concerned agencies to deal with the problem. He disclosed that PetroVietnam had invested around VND5 trillion (USD238 million) in non-core areas. The group had submitted its restructuring plan for the 2012-2015 period to the Prime Minster for consideration. However, PetroVietnam is seeking government approval to maintain 20% of its capital in the Petrovietnam Finance Joint Stock Corporation (PVF) and an 18% stake in PetroVietnam Insurance Joint Stock Corporation (PVI). Thuc explained that PVF helped arrange capital for the group, while PVI helped the group with insurance during oil exploitation activities. He, however, said that if the government turned down the proposal, the group deinvest 100% of its non-core investments. Under the government's instruction, all state-owned corporations and groups will have to withdraw their non-core investments by 2015. Tourist Vietnam

Ministry pioneers bizarre exam recording experiment

The Minister of Education and Training has given the go-ahead for a controversial new policy that will allow pupils to bring in cameras and video-capable electronic devices into exam rooms in a bid to stamp out exam fraud. It also called for a recheck of high school graduation exam results in provinces with noticeably high pass rates. Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan Pham Vu Luan, the Minister of Education and Training confirmed the decision at an online forum on preventing exam cheating on July 8. He also said the exams should not be abolished but reformed. "The exams are intended to judge a pupil's academic ability and push them to be more responsible for family and society. We should reform it, so it's less stressful and not so costly for students." he said. In a completely bizarre move, the ministry has decided to allow students to bring video and photographic recording devices into examination rooms, a decision Luan claimed would help prevent exam cheating. A video clip revealing blatant cheating at Doi Ngo High School in Bac Giang Province in which the exam invigilator provided the answers to pupils has received a mixed reaction, as the mobile phone used to record the cheating should not have been allowed in the examination. Luan said the new rule would let students bring in recording equipment that couldn't display information or transmit it outside. The rule aimed to encourage students to expose corrupt practices inside examination rooms. "We discussed and concluded that only allowing one or two types of devices in would only be inconvenient for students because there are many kinds of electronic gadgets available. We might encounter trouble in management activities but it will be a huge step to prevent wrongdoings during exams." Luan said. Answering the question about pressures on invigilators, Luan said, "The exam invigilators will have to do their job properly as their actions can be recorded at any time. However I believe that many teachers will agree with this decision." Tourist Vietnam
